The Local Program Committee was delighted to receive over 1700 abstracts from all global regions. We are now pleased to present an exciting program that will appeal to all those involved in the Industry. It features an impressive array of international keynote speakers and sessional speakers.

The conference theme is ‘Promoting Social and Economic Equality: Responses from Social Work and Social Development’. Our focus is on the intersection of the many factors that promote equality for all people within our diverse contexts around the world.

Papers and e-posters will address the sub-themes related to the broader conference theme. These are:

  • Strengthening the social and cultural wellbeing of individuals, families and communities – promoting resilience, empowerment, safety and respect
  • Addressing health inequalities and disadvantage for individuals and communities
  • Fostering social and economic initiatives that promote security and protection
  • Creating sustainable and safe physical environments
  • Educating for change, human rights and equality

The paper and e-poster proposals accepted for the conference reflect the wide range of issues relevant to social workers and others working in social welfare and development. Dominant issues include:

  • health inequalities
  • environmental social work
  • disability
  • ageing
  • sexuality
  • mental health
  • child and family welfare and
  • field education

In addition, husITa, an international human service and information technology organisation will run its 10th conference within our program addressing the theme of ‘ensuring the sustainable and ethical use of technology in human services’.

We look forward to your valued contribution.
